Rev. Abednego Ricketson was born 23 September 1733 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States to Timothy Ricketson (1711-1786) and Bathsheba Wilbore (1712-1767) and died 23 December 1778 Granville Beach, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada of unspecified causes. He married Phebe Tucker (1736-1795) 2 December 1757 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States.

The oldest child of Dr. Timothy Ricketson and Bathsheba Wilbur of Dartmouth, Bristol Co.,MA.. Abednego married Phebe Tucker on 2 Dec 1757 in Dartmouth and had their first three children born there. He later moved with his parents and brothers and sisters to Duchess Co.,NY. then to North and South Carolina then on to Nova Scotia before 1770. Abednego and Phebe were second cousins, their grandfathers were brothers. The family moved back and forth but it seem s that Abednego remained in Granville. Quote from the Family Bible of Abednego's grt. grandson,John James Marshall. " Your grandmother, Nancy (Ricketson) Marshall, emigrated from South Carolina State, were Quakers came to Nova Scotia. Three brothers settled in Granville,left Timothy while the two others built a brig (names Barshebe) and went home as they said they would not stay where the frost cleared the land. the three brothers were undoubtedly Abednego, Marmaduke and Timothy....... The French had been expelled fron Arcadia and tempting offers were made to induce loyal English subjects to settle in the place, which is why many stayed and settled there.

Abednego was a Methodist minister and possessed with some education, intelligence and enterprised. Hes descendants, especially numerous in the lines of the daughters, have always been respectedmembers of the farming community. Abednego and Phebe's children number ten, born in Dartmouth,MA. or Annapolis Co.,NS.:
