Abraham J. Pickard was born 21 April 1810 in Sullivan, Madison County, New York, United States to John Pickard (1760-1827) and Magdelena Maria Garlock (1767-1851) and died 25 April 1896 Ellery, Chautauqua County, New York, United States of unspecified causes. He married Sally Ann Waite (1815-1896) 1 June 1831 .
Abraham J. Pickard was born on April 21, 1810 in Sullivan, Madison County, New York to John Pickard and Magdelena Maria Garlock. He came to Chautauqua County in 1816 with his family, and settled in the place where he lived the rest of his life in 1823. Abraham married Sally Ann Waite on June 26, 1831. Abraham was converted and joined the Methodist Church. In 1842, Abraham was class leader for 50 years. He was a faithful follower of his Savior and died happy with the hope of glory. He was described as a kind and affectionate father and a loving husband and was loved by everyone who knew him. His home and his purse were always open for his Master whom he served and he abounded in the word of the Lord. The funeral was held from the church on the 27th, the Reverend C. C. Hunt of Sinclairville officiating. Elder Hotchkiss offered prayer at the house and Reverend R. A. Parsons of Bemus Point, made a few remarks about the close of the sermon. The music was most excellent and appropriate and was given by Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Pickard and Miss Fern Pickard of Jamestown. Others present from Jamestown were A. C. Pickard, Mr. and Mrs. Kiley, Mrs. D. E. Rappole, John Brown and wife, daughter Eunice, Mrs. Fred Mansfield, Mr. and Mrs. Smith Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Pickard, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Young, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Haskins, Dr. Scofield, William Brownell, George Dingley, Alfred Harvey and Mr. Lacy and Mrs. Dunham. The interment was in Red Bird Cemetery. (He was also a Justice of the Peace and Highway Commissioner in the Town of Ellery.)
