In about 1754, the three Adair brothers ( James, John and William) moved from Pennsylvania to Chester County, South Carolina were they could each claim 100 acres of Free Land along Fishing Creek. At the time the colonial leaders gave free land to motivate settlement of the interior areas of the colony.
