Adela de Warenne was born circa 1170 to Hamelin de Warenne (c1129-1202) and Isabel de Warenne (1130-1202) and died circa 1218 of unspecified causes.
Adela de Warenne had a child by association with her first cousin, King John of England (1167-1216). (Shared grandfather = Geoffrey V, Count of Anjou and Maine (1113-1151).)
Richard Fitzjohn, Baron of Chilham (c1190-1246) (alias Richard de Chilham and Richard de Dover[1]) was the illegitimate son of King John of England and was feudal baron of Chilham,[1] in Kent. His mother was Adela, his father's first cousin and a daughter of Hamelin de Warenne (c1129-1202) by his wife Isabel de Warenne (1130-1202), 4th Countess of Surrey.
Richard served in his father's army as a captain during the baronial revolt. In 1216 he was made constable of Wallingford Castle. The following year he took a prominent part in the Battle of Sandwich (1217), a naval battle off the Kent coast.
