"The mother of John was Agnes she had a daughter Agnes, who married Barnes by whom she had Richard and Elizabeth. After the death of her first husband (Barnes), Agnes 11 married in England Thomas Blanchard in 1639 (Her son John having embarkded within less than a year previously) Agnes the mother then aged and infirm, her daughter Agnes and husband and baby girl with her two children Richard and Elizabeth, wmbarked in the ship "Jonathan" for New England.
Agnes the mother, who before the emigration of her son,m lived with him at Penton had been placed probably at Andover, from whence she came up to London in a wagon with the carriers, and was with Thomas Blanchard's family about a month in London------and there was a gathering among the Christians at Rugla to help them over---- fifteen days out, Agnes the daughter dies, making a nuncupative will, (which was afterwards allowed), ---and a gathering was made in the ship to help put her child to nurse, but no one could be found and the child died shortly after in the ship.
Near the banks of Newfoundland, Anges the mother fell sick and continued so, about the time the ship came to anchor in Boston Harbour she died and her son-in-law procured to carry her to shore to be buried."
