Birth[]

He was born on May 12, 1831 in New Jersey.[1]

Marriage[]

He married around 1853 at age 22.[1] His wife was Mary J. Brown (1842-?) , but she may not have been his first wife, since she is too young to be the mother of his oldest children. There is a Mary J. Acken that died on Staten Island in 1924.
