Alexis Petit was born circa 1790 in France and died circa 1855 Iași, Iași County, Romania of unspecified causes.
Alexis Petit with his wife Gabrielle and his two small children Eugène Petit and Paul Petit left France in the wake of the French Revolution of 1830. They first went to Constantinople and then to Odessa, finally settling in Iaşi, Moldavia around 1840. Here they opened a French school attended by the Moldavian elite.
