Obituary
Holroyd Town Clerk (Mr. P. A. Arnett) this week paid tribute to former Town Clerk of the Municipality, Mr. A. E. Bavinton, who died recently.
Mr. Arnett said: "I had the highest respect for Mr. Bavinton as a man, and of his ability as a Town Clerk. I will be always grateful for the training I received from him when he was Town Clerk."
Mr. Bavinton died at his home in Wigram Street. Harris Park, after visiting council's offices during the day, apparently in good health.
He was 64.
His wife predeceased him by a few weeks and he is survived by his sons.
Mr. Bavinton worked for Holroyd Council for 25 years before he resigned in 1946, to go into business with his sons in a weaving mill.
This business, situated in Peel Street, West Granville is known as A. E. Bavinton and Sons.
At last week's meeting of Holroyd council, aldermen stood in silence as a mark of respect to the former Town Clerk.
