Biography

Alfred Harley, 6th Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer, was born 10 January 1809 to Edward Harley, 5th Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer (1773-1848) and Jane Elizabeth Scott (1774-1824) and died 19 January 1853 Eyewood, Kingston, Herefordshire, England, United Kingdom of unspecified causes. He married Eliza Nugent (c1806-1877) 17 February 1831 .

When he died his title became extinct.

  • The Earl of Oxford and Mortimer died at his seat, Eyewood, near Kingston, Herefordshire, on the 19th instant, He was bom in 1809; succeeded his father, as sixth earl, in 1848; married, in 1831, the Hon. Eliza Nugent, daughter of Lord Westmeath, by whom he leaves no issue. This ancient title therefore becomes extinct. The Hon. Jane Frances Bukersteth, only daughter of the late Lord Langdale, succeeds to the family estates in Herefordshire.
