Amelia Palmer was born 11 November 1853 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia to Richard Palmer (1800-1875) and Frances Gutsell (1817-1901) and died November 1937 Caringbah, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes.
Some details about Amelia's life
Amelia gave birth to 8 children fathered by George Steed. 6 children are known to have died in infancy, and 1 son died at the age of 10 years. There is no mention of her eldest child Louisa in any of the funeral notices for the family so it assumed that she also died as in infancy or as a child. (Louisa did not die as an adult in 1964, that was Louisa Steed nee Bowie born to George & Amelia Bowie in 1887.)
Her husband George Steed died in 1932 in the Rookwood Asylum.
Amelia had a second relationship with A. Morley who she was never able to marry. She took the surname of Morley, and had a son Charles Morley in about 1902. Charles survived to adulthood, but never married.
In her brother Richard Palmer's Obituary of 1931 Amelia is named as Mrs Morley. In her sister Louisa Mansfield nee Palmer's funeral notice of 1932 she is named as Mrs A. Morley with a son Mr C. Morley, the nephew of Louisa. In her own funeral notice of 1937 she is described as Amelia Steed, the mother of Charles Morley.
