Anders was born 8 June 1822 in Otterup, Odense, Denmark to Knud Jorgensen (1787-1841) and Ane Marie Andersdatter (1796-1848) .
Biography
Both of Anders parents died when he was barely an adult.
From the history of Else Maria Knudsdatter (1820-1866) (sister of Anders):
(Else) had reason to cry when Anders, serving in the Military contracted consumption and was hospitalized for an extended period of time. The consumption didn't consume him as quickly as he thought it should, or he may have thought his lingering was keeping the family from going to (America). The records show cause of death as "self murder".
In 1851-1852, missionaries from the Mormon church came to visit in Denmark and taught members of the family about the Restored Church in America. Four siblings of Anders (Else, Caroline, Jorgen and Kirstin) joined the LDS Church and in 1854 and 1855 they departed Denmark and sailed to America, all of them settling in Utah.
