Nikon's annals under 1147 reported that " ... come from Ryazan from Yelets Prince Andrei Rostislavich to Davydovich in Chernigov, " fought at the time against the Grand Prince of Kiev Izyaslav Mstislavich. However, some historians question the existence of the Principality of Yelets in the 12th century and the fact that it belonged to the Principality of Ryazan.
