She married Captain Benjamin L. Clapp not long after their arrival in Salt Lake City but at the time of her death her surname was Neilsen (she had married Lars Bertelsen Neilsen, her sister's husband)
Diderick emigrated with his wife, Maren, and children: Bodil, Dorothea, Ann Kjerstine, Morten, Inger, Johanne, Jens, Else, and Ane Maria. They came on the ship, James Nesmith in 1855. The following members of this family came on the Clapp train: Bodil, Dorthea, Ann, Morten, and Emma
1856 Clapp Wagon Company
Numbered amoung the participants in the Benjamin Clapp 1856 Pioneer Company, a early Mormon pioneer wagon train traveling from Iowa City, Iowa to Salt Lake City in the early summer, arriving there circa 21 Sep 1856. It was led by Elder Benjamin L. Clapp, one of the Seven Presidents of the Seventy of the LDS Church, who was returning home from a mission to Texas. Several diary/biographical accounts exist for this group.
Christine Mortensen married the wagon company leader only a few weeks after they arrived in Utah. Parents and other siblings came west a year later in the Christian Christiansen Company of 1857.
