Biographical details

Ann may have been one of New Zealand's first recorded centenarians. One of her sons became an MP ("Member of the House of Representatives").

A section on "personal" news on page 2 of the Grey River Argus (a South Island newspaper) dated 7 June 1907 included:

"The Pahiatua Herald states that Mrs J. Vile, mother of the late Mr Job Vile, M.H.R., was 90 years of age on Tuesday and is still hale and hearty.
"She has been the recipient of congratulations from many friends and relatives on attaining such an old age."

(Papers Past does not yet have the Pahiatua Herald itself.)
