Ann Robertson was born circa 1796 in Alvie, Inverness-shire, Scotland, United Kingdom to John Robertson (bef1795-) and May McBain (bef1795-) and died 21 September 1898 "Wando Villa', 89 Wellington Rd, Portland, Victoria, Australia of unspecified causes. She married Alexander Davidson (c1801-1874) in Inverness-shire, Scotland, United Kingdom.
Arrived at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on the "St George" with her husband on 15 Nov 1838. The records of the voyage show that they were assisted immigrants, name their parents, their occupations (she was a dairy-maid), their place of birth, but understate their ages. (She was shown as 34, but if her age at death of 102 in 1898 is correct she was 42.)
Also aboard the "St George" was her brother Duncan Robertson, his wife Ann (nee Fraser), and their then 3 children.
Both families moved to the Portland District of Victoria about 1840 (per her obituary). Her brother had a child born in NSW in 1839, and another child born at Wannon Rover, Portland District in 1842.
Her brother Duncan became a part-owner of the Satimer Pastoral Lease on the Wando River in the Portland District of Victoria together with her husband in 1848. The Satimer Pastoral Lease was owned jointly until 1860 when her husband bought out her brother's share and became sole owner.
DEATH OF A CENTENARIAN
Mrs Ann Davidson died at her residence South Portland, today, at the advanced age of 102 years. The deceased lady was the relict of the late Mr Alexander Davidson, who, for many years, was engaged in the Western District in pastoral pursuits. Mr and Mrs Davidson landed in Sydney in 1837 [Note - this date in the obituary is incorrect, they arrived aboard the "St George" on 15 Nov 1838] and a year or two later they came to this district. The deceased lady retained her mental faculties almost to the day of her death, and although confined to her room, was in the habit of getting up until within a few days of the end.
