Baptism
Ann Underdown was born in 1729 and was baptised on the 19th May 1729 in Northleigh to parents Thomas and Grace Underdown (nee Pennington).
She was their 10th child and 6th daughter. Here elder siblings were James, Abraham, Mary, Thomas, Grace, Sarah, Phillip, Agnes and Joan.
Marriage
It is unknown for certain when Ann married, but the most likely candidate is a record on the 11th January 1752 in Lyme Regis, Dorset to a William Bartlet. The record lists the bride as ‘Anna’ Underdown of Branscombe. Branscombe is south of the Northleigh/Southleigh area and by the coast. If this is indeed our Ann, what she was doing in Branscombe is unknown.
