OLD RESIDENT'S DEATH.
50 Years in Newcastle.

An old and respected resident of Newcastle, Mrs. Annie Bartley, died in the Newcastle Hospital last night, after a short illness.
Mrs. Bartley was well known in church circles, having been a member of the old Tyrrell-street Methodist Church for a number of years, and also a member and active worker at the Central Methodist Mission since its inception. Her lovable and kindly disposition endeared her to all whom she met, and her happy and sympathetic nature made many lifelong friendships.

Y.M.C.A. WORKER

She was an ardent worker in the Y.M.C.A. movement, her last act being to attend a meeting in connection with the campaign. It was on her way home that she was so suddenly taken ill.
Deceased, who was 64 years of age, had spent over 50 years of her life in Newcastle, mostly as a resident on The Hill.
Her husband predeceased her 16 years, and she leaves a family of four sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs. William, Jack, Arthur, and Walter, and the daughters Mrs. J. T. McCann, of New Lambton, and Mrs. F. W. Walker, wife of the Rev. F. W. Walker, of West Wyalong.
The funeral will take place to-morrow.

Note

In Yewenyi's version, this Newcastle-based family includes twins Sidney Bartley (1889-1962) and Norman Bartley (1889-1950) who were born in Cobar. It seems more likely that these twins belong to Thomas Bartley and Annie Marshall, whose marriage was registered in 1876 in Forbes, and whose 8 other children were regsisted in Forbes, Bourke, Parkes, Cobar, Walgett and Nyngan.
