Note
Many of the internet sources, including Ancestral File, call him "Arthur G Adams" or "Arthur Gregory Adams", sometimes with a death year of 1949. However the cited SSDI entry has the correct birth date. His World War II Draft card shows he had no second name.
The "real" Arthur Gregory Adams was born 20 Jun 1877 in Marblehead, Massachusetts, to Nathaniel P Adams (laborer) and Mary E Ashton (see here). He was still in Marblehead for the United States Census, 1900. Here is his World War I Selective Service System Draft Registration Card.
