Asa Bigelow was born 3 September 1720 in Colchester, New London County, Connecticut, United States to John Bigelow (1681-1770) and Sarah Bigelow (1681-1754) and died 9 October 1754 Colchester, New London County, Connecticut, United States of unspecified causes. He married Dorothy Otis (1721-1795) 13 December 1737 in Colchester, New London County, Connecticut, United States.

The Bigelow Family of America says:

45-153. Asa Bigelow of Colchester, Conn., the youngest son of Lieut. John and Sarah (Bigelow) Bigelow, was born in Colchester, Sept. 3, 1720. "While fitting for College he became acquainted with Dorothy Otis, which caused such a violent headache that he was obliged to give up going to College, and was married Dec. 13, 1737, he being 17 and she being 16 years of age, and they went to live with his father." He died Oct. 9, 1754, at the age of 34. Two of his children having died a few days previous and his mother just four days after. His widow Dorothy married for her second husband, Oct. 12, 1762, Isaac Day and had three sons, Charles, Daniel and John. Mr. Day died in 1765 and she married third a Mr. Langrell, whom she outlived and died Oct. 20, 1794.
