Sir Basil Francis Hall of Dunglass, 7th Baronet was born 1 June 1832 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, United Kingdom to John Hall (1787-1860) and Julia Walker (1798-1874) and died 13 June 1909 of unspecified causes. He married Adelaide Catherine Elliot (1840-1926) 10 March 1877 in Clifton, Roxburghshire, Scotland, United Kingdom.

Biography

Sir Basil Francis Hall of Dunglass, 7th Bt. was born on 1 June 1832.1 He was the son of Sir John Hall of Dunglass, 5th Bt. and Julia Walker.2 He married Adelaide Catherine Elliot, daughter of Robert Kerr Elliot of Harwood and Clifton, on 10 March 1877.1 He died on 13 January 1909 at age 76, without issue.1

He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Hall, of Dunglass [N.S., 1687] on 7 May 1876.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Berwick and Haddington.

The Hall Baronetcy of Dunglass (in East Lothian formerly Haddingtonshire until 1975), was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 8 October 1687 for John Hall.

Dunglass Castle, East Lothian was built by the Pepdies of Dunglass in the 14th century. The original castle was destroyed in an explosion in 1640, and in 1687, John Hall (1650-1710) (1st Baronet) acquired and rebuilt this estate which would remain in the family for 232 years, when it was sold by Sir John Richard Hall, 9th Baronet in the year 1918.
