Bertha Matilda Archer was born in Pitstone, Buckinghamshire in 1870. Her father was George Archer (c1811-1882), a farmer. Her mother was George's second wife Jane (c1836-1898).
In about 1833 George married Sarah. They had the following children:

In 1862 in Potterspury George married Jane Warwick. They had the following children:
