Berthold von Bayern, Duke of Carinthia, Duke of Bavaria, was born circa 900 to Luitpold von Karantanien und Oberpannonien (?-907) and Kunigunde von Schwaben (c880-?) and died 23 November 947 of unspecified causes.
Sources agree that Heinrich is his son and Bilefrid his daughter. One source lists two more daughters,[1] another source two more sons[2]. Would-be daughter Wiltrud would have married Burchard III von Schwaben, but the dates do not add up and there is a possible confusion with the first name of his first wife (Wieltraut) and the last name of his second wife (von Bayern). The two would-be sons are without a trace.
