Bonyak, Khan of the Cumans, was born circa 1075 and died circa 1167 of unspecified causes.

Bonyak (Bönek, or Maniak) Khan was a Cuman khan who led the invasions, together with Togortac, on Kievan Rus'. In 1096 Boniak attacked Kiev, plundered the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, and burned down the prince's palace in Berestovo. He was defeated in 1107 by the princes of Rus's forces, in the Battle of the Sula River near Lubny. He is mentioned for the last time in the Primary Chronicle in 1167, when he was defeated by Prince Oleg I of Chernigov.

Bonyak is often represented as a sorcerer in Rus' folklore.[1]
