Brienne-le-Château is a commune in the Aubedepartment in north-central France. It is located 1 mile (2 km) from the right bank of the Aube River and 26 miles northeast of Troyes.
It was the centre of the medieval County of Brienne, whose lords, first counts and eventually dukes, had a claim to the Kingdom of Jerusalem which never materialized, though many claimed the title.
