A funeral for Carl Erling Tandberg, who died Thursday in a Portland hospital of pneumonia and other causes after a long illness, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Glad Tidings Church in Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Tandberg, 74, was born June 26, 1917, in Columbus, N.D. He married Hazel Haarstad in 1942 and joined the U.S. Army shortly afterward. He served 19 months and was discharged for a non-combat injury. They moved to Vancouver in 1948. He was employed as a painter in the area for 26 years -- nine of them for the Bonneville Power Administration. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; sons, Edward of Washougal, Joseph of Vancouver, Arne of Milwaukie and Floyd Walseth of Vancouver; daughters, Karla Swenson of Edmonds, Wash., and Brenda Heward of Vancouver; brothers, Oscar of Vancouver and Lloyd of Springfield; sisters, Clara Haarstad of Renton, Wash., Elenora Riley of Minneapolis, and Olga Ness of Vancouver; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private burial will be in Evergreeen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vancouver.
