Obituary

LATE MRS. DICKSON.

The late Mrs. Caroline Dickson, of Cathcart-street, Lismore, was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. Geraghty, of Lismore, Alstonville, and other centres. Deceased, who was a native of the Illawarra district, came to Lismore with her parents at the age of about 10 years. As stated previously, death was due to gastro-enteritis. Deceased was twice married. Her first husband was the late Mr. W. J Wilson, who for some years kept a grocery, drapery, and ironmongery store next to the Richmond Hotel, Woodlark-street, and later conducted the old Bridge Hotel which occupied the site where the Hotel Ryan now stands. He died about 25 years ago. Deceased's second husband was the late Mr. F. W. Dickson, who was for many years, inspector of saleyards to the Lismore Municipal Council. His death occurred about 12 months ago. Deceased had the distinction of being the first organist of St. Carthage's R.C. Cathedral, a position she occupied for seven years. Amongst the vocalists were two of her sisters, Mrs. John O 'Neill and Mrs. John Kenny. One of deceased's, daughters, now Mrs. Haynes, of Paddington, Sydney, had a distinguished musical career on the stage prior to her marriage. She was Miss Narelle Wilson. The late Mrs. Owen Daley was a sister of deceased, as also is Mrs. O. Cawley, senr. It might be mentioned that the descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Geraghty are particularly numerous. Deceased leaves a family of five sons and two daughters. The sons by the first marriage are Messrs. Clevedon, Stanley (Lismore), Harcourt (Dungog), and Desmond (Lismore) Wilson. The other son, Master Patrick Dickson, is the only child of the second marriage. The daughters are Mrs. Haynes (Paddington) and Miss Florence Wilson (Lismore).
