The 1851 census shows that her parents, living at St Pancras, London, were born at Newbury, Staffordshire. They married at Sedgley, Staffordshire, on 20 July 1834. Apart from a nephew William Henry Shaw, the only child with them in the 1851 census is their daughter Caroline, 16, who appears to have been an only child.
