People who are/were married to current or former members of the United States House of Representatives. To be included in this category, spouses must have been married to the Representative during or after their tenure in office. For example, Bill Emerson was a spouse of current Jo Ann Emerson; however, he would not meet the inclusion criteria of this category, because he died prior to her congressional service, but she would because she was married to him during his congressional service. Marriages subsequent to the service can count as well because the Representative attains that title of address for life. For example, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis qualifies for inclusion in this category, even though she did not marry John F. Kennedy until September 1953, eight months after he concluded his tenure in the U.S. House.
