Catherine Whitmer Page was born 22 April 1807 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States to Peter Whitmer (1773-1854) and Mary Elsa Musselman (1778-1856) and died 1881 Richmond, Ray County, Missouri, United States of unspecified causes. She married Hiram Page (1800-1852) 10 November 1825 .
Biography
Catherine Whitmer Page was the daughter of Peter Whitmer Sr. and Mary Musselman. Moved to Fayette, Seneca Co., New York, by 1810. Married Hiram Page, 10 Nov. 1825, in Seneca Co. Baptized into LDS church, 11 Apr. 1830, in Seneca Lake, Seneca Co.
Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, 1831; near Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri, 1832; to Clay Co., Missouri, 1833; to Far West, Missouri, 1836; and near present-day Excelsior Springs, Ray Co., Missouri, 1838.
Husband died, 1852. Moved to Grape Grove, Ray Co., by 1860. Moved to Richmond, Ray Co., by 1880.
1830 LDS Church Organization
On 06 Apr 1830, Joseph Smith (1805-1844) and five other men officially organized a new church in accordance with the laws of the state of New York at the Whitmer Family Farm in Fayette, New York.
Today, visiters can tour the farm where Peter Whitmer, Sr. and his wife Mary supported the Book of Mormon translation, hosted the newborn Church, and witnessed some of Joseph Smith’s earliest revelations. On this land, some of the foundational events of the Restoration unfolded and some of the first Saints gained testimonies of God’s latter-day work.
Final Years
Being a widow, after all of her children were grown she moved in with her son, Peter, and his family. She remained with them until her death, which occurred after the 1880 census.
