Charles Boyton was born 1825 in Clavering, Essex, England, United Kingdom to John M. Boyton (1782-1866) and Ann Miller (1783-1850) and died 8 June 1861 Gundagai, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Maria Smith (1828-1875) 18 June 1844 in Clavering, Essex, England, United Kingdom.

Charles arrived in Australia on the ship Genghis Khan into Moreton Bay in 1854 accompanied by wife Maria and children, William 8, James 5, Sarah 3 and infant Emily (from NSW State Records Immigration Records for Moreton Bay where the name is mis-spelt as "Boytor").

It is not known when Charles and family moved down to NSW but they appear to have ended up in Campbelltown with Charles' brother William and his family. The Boyton families later moved to Nangus in the late 1850's early 1860's.

Records show Charles being buried in North Gundagai Cemetery.
