Charles's brother was Sir John Stuart Hepburn-Forbes, 8th Baronet of Pitsligo (1804–1866), also known as "8th Baronet Forbes, of Monymusk, Aberdeenshire [N.S., 1626]", who died without male issue, leaving Charles's son William to inherit as 9th Baronet, while the Forbes of Pitsligo estates went to Sir John's daughter and her husband, the 20th Baron Clinton.
