Obituary

A notable Macleay figure passes in the death of Mr. Cornelius Walker, 88, who for the last 20 years had lived a retired life at Crescent Head. Born on the Hawkesbury, he went to the Macleay 72 years ago with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Walker, and worked with his father, who was an undertaker. He also served as a wheelwright and coachbuilder, and 64 years ago married Miss Deborah Lee, of East Kempsey. Later, he opened up a carrying business and livery stables, and when his father died took over the undertaking business. Some 35 years ago his wife died, and he married Miss Hannah Foster, who, with one son, Mr. Jos. T. Walker and four daughters, of the first marriage, survives.
