Col. Cyprian Howe was born 29 March 1726 in Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts to John Howe (1697-1734) and Thankful Bigelow (1699-1756) and died 1790 Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Dorothy Howe (1730-1764) 20 November 1750 in Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
Biography
Cyprian is the son of John Howe and Thankful Bigelow and he married Dorothy Howe,the daughter of Joseph Howe and Ruth Brigham. They had married on 20 Nov 1750 and had but one child, Martha Howe.
He kept a public house and was two years Selectman.
Revolutionary War Officer
Col. Cyprian Howe served this country proudly and with out men like him we would not be a free nation. As Captain he served under Colonel Henry Gardiner in the 4th Middlesex County Militia Regiment at the opening of the Revolution and marched to Cambridge on the Lexington Alarm on the 19th of April 1775 (but not found on the local minuteman rosters). He was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in 1776 and Colonel in 1779 when he became commanding officer of the 4th Middlesex Regiment. He served in many battles through the region and after years of strugles we defeated the British to be an Independant United States of America.
