He married Martha Watkins (1751-1789) 30 January 1772 in Holliston, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. He married Sarah Alden (1760-1803) 17 November 1791 in Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married Elizabeth Parmenter (1752-1838) 4 May 1809 in Massachusetts.

Said to be a Revolutionary soldier who enlisted as a private from Barre or Rutland Aug 21, 1777; discharged; served 10 days in Capt. Benj. Ayers Co.; Col Nathan Sparhawk; also Sept 26, 1777 marched to Bennington, served 29 days. et al.
