Daniel Edwin Gilbert Maher was born 8 January 1874 in Grenfell, New South Wales, Australia to Thomas Appledore Maher (1841-1893) and Hannah Eady Matthews (1835-1911) and died 6 April 1923 Yerranderie, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Catherine Ann Cunningham (1868-1919) 26 December 1900 in Granville, New South Wales, Australia.
Daniel Edwin Gilbert Maher was born in 1874 at Grenfell, New South Wales, Australia. He was the seventh of nine children of Thomas Maher and Hannah Matthews. Daniel was a grandson of convicts, Mathias and Margaret Maher.
Daniel married Catherine Cunningham in 1901 at Granville, New South Wales. Catherine was a daughter of Irish emigrants, Patrick and Ellen Cunningham. Daniel and Catherine made their home in Yerranderie, New South Wales, firstly building and then operating a boarding house in the then-vibrant silver-mining town. The boarding house became known as Mrs Barnes' Boarding House. Mrs Barnes was the mother-in-law of Catherine's niece, Margaret, who married Herbert Barnes.
He passed away in 1923 at Yerranderie and is buried beside his wife in Yerranderie Cemetery.
