Daniel John Jurd was born 1 August 1863 in Macdonald River, New South Wales, Australia to Daniel Jurd (1822-1903) and Elizabeth Bailey (1825-1883) and died 25 May 1933 Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Clara Isabella Bourne (1873-1945) 21 July 1892 in Wollombi, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
Another of the pioneer stock went the way of all flesh When Mr. Dan Jurd, a native of the Wollombi district, passed away at the age of 69.
He had been ailing with heart trouble for some time. The late Mr. Jurd had resided in Cessnock for some time, but previously, he had followed farming pursuits. The deceased is survived by his wife and a grown up family. His remains were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Cessriock cemetery this afternoon.
