Daniel Spencer, Sr. was born 14 May 1764 in East Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut to Peter Spencer (1711-1790) and Elisabeth Ruth Emmons (1724-1804) and died 26 November 1843 Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois of unspecified causes. He married Chloe Wilson (1765-1845) 9 January 1788 in West Stockbridge, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
Biography
Daniel Spencer, Sr enlisted in the Continental Army at the age of sixteen and remained with it until he witnessed the surrender of Yorktown. He was the son of Peter & Ruth Emmons Spencer. Peter was a descendant of Gerard Spencer who settled at Lynn, Massachusetts in 1645, and whose daughter Mehitable, married Daniel Cone who was the first Cone that settled in America, the site of Hadam, Connecticut, purchased from the Indians March 1662.
