David Forbush, Sr. was born 21 October 1721 in Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts to Thomas Forbush (1695-1783) and Hannah Bellows (1695-1787) and died September 1787 Grafton, Worcester County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Annah Whitney (1730-) 3 February 1748 in Upton, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
Biography
David Forbush was born and brought up a farmer by his father, Deacon Thomas Forbush (1695-1783). He was born in that part of Marlboro which was later set off as Westboro. Soon after his marriage he moved to Grafton, Massachusetts and purchased the Ebenezer Flagg house on George Hill. The building was not occupied but a short time before a more commodious house was erected in 1784. At his death, this farm of eighty acres was equally divided between his sons, Jonathan and Silas. His will was presented 25 Sept 1787 and probated 04 Mar 1788.
1757 Militia Roll
In a list of training and alarm soldiers in Grafton in 1757, under command of Capt Samuel Warner, found in the Secretary of State's office in Boston, is the name of David Forbush.
Revolutionary War Service
During the Revolutionary Are, David was a member of the Committee of Safety. He enlisted 21 Apr 1775 in Capt Aaron Kimball's company, in Col. Artemus Ward's regiment of militia, which marched to Lexington on the Alarm of that date.
Marriage & Family
David Forbush was married to Annah Whitney (1730-), by the Rev. Ebenezer Parkman on 04 May 1749. She was the aunt of famous cotton gin inventor Eli Whitney. They attest to the receipt of money from their brother (Eli, Sr.) who was the executor of their parents estate.
"Received of Eli Whitney the sum of six pounds, one shilling, in full of what was due from said Whitney, executor to the last will and testament of Nathaniel Whitney, late of Westboro, deceased. We say rec'd by us. David Forbush, Anna Forbush."
