Biography

David Leslie, 5th Earl of Leven, 2nd Earl of Melville, was born 5 May 1660 to George Melville, 1st Earl of Melville (1636-1707) and Catharine Leslie (c1638-1713) and died 6 June 1728 of unspecified causes. He married Anne Wemyss (1675-1702) 3 September 1691 .

In 1681, with the death of the rival claimant, John Leslie, 1st Duke of Rothes, he was permitted to enter into the Earldom of Leven.

He succeeded his father as Earl of Melville on 20 May 1707, but did not use the title.
