Discussion of Wigton Walker YDNA Results

This article provides a discussion of the test results for various lines thought to be related to each other as described by White, 1902 "Descendants of John Walker of Wigton Scotland". Not all persons whose test results are here examined claim descent or relatedness to John Walker. The inclusion of their lineages in the discussion is simply because their YDNA results match others known or thought to be descended from John Walker of Wigton. However, the test results show that the lineages compiled by White, 1902 combine two separate lines of Walkers that lived near, and intermarried with each other in the Rockbridge County from roughly 1738 onward.

Comparison of Test Results

This table compares the "centroid" YDNA results for the Natural Bridge and Walkers Creek lines of the Wigton Walkers. These lines were merged in the family history of Emma Siggins White, Descendants of John Walker of Wigton Scotland, published in 1902. Inspection of the YDNA results for these two lines, as given below, indicates that there are 14 mismatches out of 37 markers tested.
