Ebenezer Woodbury Sr was born 3 July 1667 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts to John Woodbury (1630-1679) and Elizabeth Tenney (1632-1726) and died 24 April 1714 Essex, Essex County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Hannah Dodge (1671-1757) 15 May 1690 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts.
Vital records sources: Ebenezer's baptism record is from Record of the First Church, Salem, his marriage is in Vital Records of Beverly, Massachusetts to the Year 1859, vol. 2 (Salem: 1907), p. 81. They were married by Justice Jonathan Corwin of Salem. Recorded as "Ed: Woodbury" in Records of the First Church in Beverly, Massachusetts, 1667-1772 (Salem: 1905), p. 39. Ebenezer's father is thought to be John "the Mariner" Woodbury (born circa 1629 / died January 18, 1673 in probably on board the HMS Crown).
Ebenezer's mother is thought to not be Elizabeth Tenney but rather an unknown Elizabeth: "misreading of 17th century records has led to the thought that John's wife was Elizabeth Tenney. Evidence places her as the wife of John Woodbury, son of Humphrey and nephew of the John of this biography. Also based on existing records, there is little doubt that she was the daughter of William Tenney of Rowley, born in 1643, making her too young to have had children in the earlier part of the 1650s."
