Edward Sprague a fuller by trade, died in 1614 leaving behind 6 children and a widow. In 1629, 3 sons migrated to America.
Three sons of Edward Sprague (1576-1614) migrated in 1629, Ralph (29), Richard (24), William (20), sailing from England and landing in Salem, Massachusetts and in the summer of that year moving to Charlestown, where they with a few others were the first to form and English Settlement. William in 1635 married Milicen Eames, and in 1636 removed to Hingham where they had 11 children.

In Prince's "Chronology" we find the following "Among those who arrived at Naumkeag are Ralph Sprague, with his brothers Richard and William, who were employed by Governor Endicott to explore and take possession of the country west ward. They traveled through the woods to Charleston, on a neck of land called Michawum, between Mystic and Charles rivers, full of Indians named Aborginians, with who they made peace."
