Edwardstone is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. The parish contains the hamlets of Mill Green, Priory Green, Round Maple and Sherbourne Street, and the Edwardstone Woods, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
History[]
Edwardstone was listed in the Domesday Book as Eduardestuna.[1] Edwardstone Priory was a priory in Priory Green, Edwardstone and was founded by Peter, Bishop of Winchester during the reign of King John,[2] the priory was a cell to Abingdon monastery, before the monks resident were moved to Colne Priory.[3] I

- Edwardstone's parish church, St Mary's, is a Grade 1 listed building.
- Priory Green contains four Grade 2 listed buildings, the Barn to the North of Lynn's Hall,[4] Lynn's Hall,[5] Priory Cottage,[6] and Priory Green Cottage.[7]
- Mill Green has three Grade II listed buildings, all timber-framed and plastered houses, Earls Cottages, Mill End Green and Moat Farm Cottage.[8][9][10]
- There are four Grade II listed buildings in Round Maple, all timber-framed and plastered: Flushing Farm, an 18th or early 19th century building;[11] Little Thatch, a renovated 17th to 18th century single-storey building;[12] Quicks Farm, a house with a red brick front, gable ends;[13] and Seasons, a single-storey thatched building with attics.[14]
