Biography

Elias, son of Moses Cheney (1715-1759), was born in Newbury, 20 Feb 1742 and died Mar 1832.

He lived first in Byfield, then Rowley and about 1785 remobed to Campton NH. Later me removed again to Thornton NH where he became a prominent citizen and church officer. He owned land also in Londonderry and Chester NH.

Revolutionary War Service

Elias Cheney served in the revolution, enlisted 07 Mar 1781 into Captain Champerlain's company, Colonel Davis' regiment, time of service eleven days.

He married first at Rowley 07 Sep 1762 to Jane Plummer

Second Marriage

He married second on 09 Mar 1768 in Newbury to Ruth Jackman of Byfield who died 19 Feb 1774.
