Hon. Elijah Brigham was born 7 July 1751 in Westborough, Worcester County, Massachusetts to Levi Brigham (1716-1787) and Susanna Grout (1719-1816) and died 22 February 1816 Washington, District of Columbia of unspecified causes. He married Ann S Parkman (1755-1783) 1780 in Westborough, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married Sarah Lambert (1750-1787) 20 April 1786 in Westborough, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married Sara Ward (1756-1838) 16 December 1792 in Shrewsbury, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
Biography
U.S. Congressional Representative. Although well respected as a politician and jurist, Brigham's effectiveness in Congress was hampered by his allegiance to the fading Federalist Party, which would dissolve soon after his death.
A 1778 graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, Brigham studied law but never practiced, preferring instead to work as a merchant in his hometown of Westborough (now Northborough).
Brigham was born in Westborough (now Northborough), Massachusetts, son of Colonel Levi Brigham and Susanna (Grout) Brigham. He was a descendant of Thomas Brigham and Edmund Rice, early immigrants to Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Brigham was elected as a Federalist to the Twelfth, Thirteenth, and Fourteenth Congresses and served from March 4, 1811, until his death in Washington, D.C., February 22, 1816. He was interred in the Congressional Cemetery.
Brigham was elected a member of the American Antiquarian Society in 1813.
