Biography
Col. Elisha Hutchinson was born 15 November 1641 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts to Edward Hutchinson (1613-1675) and Katherine Hamby (1615-1649) and died 10 December 1717 Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Hannah Hawkins (1641-1676) 1659 in Massachusetts.
Born in Dorchester or Boston, but baptized at the First Church of Boston on 15 or 16 Nov 1641. Died in Boston in 10 Dec 1717. In Boston he was both a merchant and part owner of a salt works.
Court Judge
He was appointed Judge of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas of Suffolk County on 07 Dec 1692 and served on the bench until his death. He also went by "Colonel".
Militia Colonel
"...a merchant and part owner of the salt works in Boston. He was a public official and military officer. He led an expedition against the Indians in 1691/92 and was chosen commander of the fortification in Boston Harbor in 1702." ~ Research done by Stephen P.H. Frakes
In 1691/92, New England was the scene of the King William's War which included several expeditions up into Maine.
Freake Family Journals
From Samuel SEWALL's diary: "Febr. 7 Madam HUTCHISON is buried; Bearer, Cooke, Sewall, Addington, Townsend; Bromfield, Belcher; came to the South burying place. Col. HUTCHISON by reason of his Sore Toe was fain to ride in the Coach."

The Freake and Hutchinson families were members of the First Church in Boston, founded 1630.
John Freake was an attorney at the Boston Courts at the time of his death. This is probably how Elizabeth met Elisha Hutchinson, who was a Clerk/Judge's Assistant at the time of John Freake's death.
It is written that John is at Granary Burial Grounds, with a description of the headstone bearing the Freake/Clarke coat of arms.
