Elizabeth Campbell was born circa 1865 in Muragh, Ireland . She married John Thomas Lilburn Hughan (1862-1942) 1890 in Victoria, Australia.
Elizabeth's marriage with John Thomas Lilburn Hughan (1862-1942) broke up in about 1903.
In 1904 Elizabeth, while legally married to John Thomas Lilburn Hughan, had an illegitimate daughter with George Walter Butler, a lorry driver, who said that he had been born in Sydney, New South Wales. George registered the birth of this baby, Fanny Gladys. This birth is entered into the index of births in Victoria 3 times, once under her mother's married surname of Hughan, once under her mother's maiden surname of Campbell, and once under her father's surname of Butler. Elizabeth later moved in New South Wales with Fanny, and raised her as Fanny Hughan.
At the stated age of 14yrs 6 mths (she was actually 16yrs 6mths) and a stated birthdate of 5 Nov 1906 (she was born on 5 Nov 1904) Fanny Hughan was admitted into the Parramatta Training School in a court ordered admission by the Tocumwall Court on 5 May 1921. The notes on admission said: An uncontrollable child - wanders at lage in public places with male persons...father living with another woman... mother employed at hotels (There is much more in the notes but they are largely illegible.)
Fanny Hughan was discharged from the detention school 3 yrs and 9 months later on 25 Feb 1925 when she was 20yrs old but the school believed her to be 2 years younger. Notes at the school stated that Fanny Hughan was a persistant V.D. case without any home to return to. Fanny Hughan was discharged into work at Merrylands.
