Obituary

The death occurred early yesterday morning of Mrs. Elizabeth Hannah Horwood, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Seven Hills. Mrs. Horwood, who was in her 84th year, was a native of Seven Hills, her father being Mr. David Howard, a well-known local orchardist. She married Mr. Charles Horwood, also a member of a prominent district family, who is in his 86th year, and in August last the couple celebrated their 60th year of wedded life. She had suffered from rheumatism for a number of years, but her fatal illness was of not more than a month's duration. Mrs. Horwood had lived all her life at Seven Hills, and was a splendid worker for charity and warm supporter of St. Andrew's Church of England, with which her husband had been associated as warden over a period of sixty years. Brothers of deceased are Messrs. D. R. Howard[1] (Seven Hills) and T. S. Howard[2] (Waverley), and Mrs. S. Hargreaves (Eastwood) is a sister. Messrs. D. P. Horwood (Baulkham Hills) and V. P. Horwood (Parramatta) are brothers-in-law, and Mrs. Christie (Parramatta) is a sister-in-law. The funeral will leave his late residence at Seven Hills this afternoon, at 3.30, for the Church of England Cemetery, Prospect.
