Miss Eliza Louisa Marks.

It is with sincere regret we report the death last Saturday mornirig at her home on Alfred Street of Miss Eliza Louisa Marks, one of the most highly respected and oldest pioneers of the district, at the age of 73 years.

The late Miss Marks was born at Binda, in the Goulburn district of New South Wales, and came to the Warrego district with her parents in 1877.

A block of land was purchased in Alfred Street and the house erected in which Miss Marks has resided ever since. During the early days of Charleville the deceased was an energetic worker for the Church of England and took a leading part in collecting funds for tbe present church. She was also a splendid worker for the Charleville Hospital, and raised a considerable sum by her own efforts towards the building of the present institution.

The late Miss Marks was of a benevolent nature, and her kindly disposition endeared her to all. Her parents, who celebrated their diamond jubilee wedding in Charleville, predeceased her some years ago.
