Elizabeth Preston, 2nd Lady Dingwall, was born 25 July 1615 in Halltre, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom to Richard Preston, 1st Earl of Desmond (-1628) and Elizabeth Butler (bef1593-1628) and died 21 July 1684 St James's Square, Greater London, England, United Kingdom of unspecified causes. She married James Butler (1610-1688) 26 August 1629 in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom.
On her father's death, she inherited his Scottish title of Lord of Parliament, while his Irish titles became extinct. When it was arranged that she should marry George Feilding, he was created Earl of Desmond, but the marriage did not take place.
